INTRODUCTION
The
source of grace is the Father. The grace of God brings salvation to man. Titus 2:11. Grace and faith came
through Jesus Christ. Therefore, we obtain grace through our Lord Jesus Christ.
John 1:17. Jesus must be our
foundation. The grace of God is multiplied in our lives by our knowledge of
God. 2 Peter 1:2. The knowledge of
God comes through prayerful study of God’s word, the Bible.
To
be effective in doing what God has called us to do, we need God’s eyes, ears,
hands, feet, strength, and power. God confers His grace not only on individuals
but also on His work. 2 Corinthians
13:14. As Christians, grace is available to us at all times and in every
situation. All we have to do is ask God
through Christ to impact us with His grace. Matthew 7:7-8.
Prayer: Father pour upon me the grace that I need to run successfully
the race that is set before me, in the
name of Jesus
WHAT IS THE GRACE OF GOD?
The grace
of God is:
1. Divine enablement. Romans 15:15.
For example, we are saved
by grace through faith in God.
2. God’s power and ability
impacted to human beings.
To enable them to
accomplish their God given assignments and tasks.
3. Unmerited and freely given
favor of God. 1 Corinthians 1:4.
4. A gift to man from God. Ephesians 2:8, Ephesians 3:7.
It is free. Money cannot buy
it.
Prayer: Father pour your grace upon me afresh, in the name of Jesus.
WHY DO YOU NEED THE GRACE OF GOD?
1.
It takes the grace of God to carry
out your divine assignments on earth and fulfill your destiny. 1 Corinthians
3:19, 1 Corinthians 15:10, Luke 2:40, Exodus 33:10.
Even our Lord Jesus needed
the grace of God to carry out His assignments. Hebrews 2:9.
2. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are
distributed according to the grace of God that rests on you. 1 Peter 4:10.
3. The grace of God perfects a person. 1
Peter 5:10.
Apostle Paul in the Bible
is a perfect example. He was a man that
in his zeal for God, murdered Christians thinking that He was doing good for
God. But despite this terrible past, the grace of God perfected his life and he
became one of the chief apostles.
4. The grace of God establishes a person.
1 Peter 5:10.
It turned illiterate fishermen
from Galilee into leaders of Christianity. It turned Saul of Tarsus the
murderer of Christians into Paul the Apostle who wrote over a third of the New
Testament books of the Bible.
5. The grace of God strengthens a person.
1 Peter 5:10.
This is why the Bible
tells us that God’s grace is sufficient for us and that His strength is
perfected in our weakness. Leviticus
15:25.
WHAT CAN HINDER THE GRACE OF GOD IN YOUR LIFE?
1.
Sin. Isaiah 59:1-2.
2.
Your actions can frustrate the grace
of God in your life.
For example, bitterness
and unforgiveness can all hinder the grace of God in your life. Hebrews 12:15. Humility attracts the grace of God, while pride keeps it away. 1 Peter 5:5.
3.
The grace of God can be wasted and
not appropriated wisely. 2 Corinthians 6:1.
4.
The grace of God can be abused. Jude
1:4.
For example, it should not
be taken as liberty to commit immorality and other sinful acts.
5.
Not studying or increasing in your knowledge
of the word of God.
Remember that your knowledge
of God increases your grace.
6.
Failure to ask God for more grace.
You have to take all your
problems to God in prayers.
7. Ignorance
Not knowing that the grace
of God is available to you through Jesus Christ.
Prayer: O
Lord, damage my ignorance, in the name of Jesus.
HOW DO YOU OBTAIN GOD’S GRACE?
1.
Get saved. Jesus is the only
source of grace
Grace and faith came
through Him. We must remain attached to the socket of God to benefit from His
grace.
2.
We must acknowledge our
weakness
Apostle Paul did. He said when he is weak then is he made
strong through Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:10, Matthew 7:7-8. We must realize that it is not by our power or
our might but by the Spirit of God. Zechariah 4:6.
3.
Realize that you are not
powerless
The Greater One lives in
you than he that is in the world. He carries the greatest power than any
situation or power that can confront you.
Lamentations 3:37, Psalm 62:12. Realize
and confess that you can do all things through Christ that strengthens you. Philippians 4:13.
4.
Pray for God to bestow His
grace on you. 2 Thessalonians 1:12.
Do not suffer in silence. Ask
God for His grace daily to run the race that is set before you and to sustain
you. 1 Corinthians 15:10, Matthew 7:7-8.
